Ocean Wings I - An original abstract expressionism painting on canvas, the first of two mixed media artworks inspired by the coast of Australia where I grew up during my teens.
I am always drawn to the beautiful South East Queensland beaches and I have incorporated into these paintings, the patterns on the ocean water after the waves have broken. Textured layers full of feeling, provide depth and intricate patterns while the vibrant blues harmonise to bring calm and beauty.
Ocean Wings I is painted at the edges in a rich dark blue and wouldn't be complete without a touch of sparkle, much like the waves glistening in the sunlight, which was created with the application of silver leaf into the layers.
Both paintings mirror each other symbolizing butterfly wings fluttering through filtered sunlight. The deeper meaning behind the butterflies resonates with me strongly, particularly freedom, growth, transformation, hope and rebirth.
The artistic mirror-like effect is evident when both paintings, Ocean Wings I and Ocean Wings II are positioned side by side. Consider purchasing them as a pair.

Custom-made float frames for canvas paintings:
The float frame is 10mm wide on the face and 55mm deep, fitted with a 5mm space between the canvas and the frame.

Why does it take this long? Unlike standard items, your large original painting requires:
- Custom Crating: We build a custom reinfocred box or protective wooden crate specifically for your artwork (2–4 days).
- Packing fine art at larger scales takes considerable time.
- Secure Transit: We use specialized "Fine Art" air freight to ensure safe delivery.

Caring for Your Original Art
After you receive your painting, take care to protect it from bright sunlight. If you are framing your art with your own framer, ideally, choose a fine art framing service. To enhance the artwork I suggest an archival mat, a sun-protective, anti-reflective glass and the frame of your choice.
