Abstract Art as a Transformative Experience

As an Abstract Artist, more specifically, an abstract expressionism artist and graphite penciller, making art is not only a passion, it is a meditation that nurtures my whole being and it is transforming in every way.

Being an empath, I create my art using mindfulness and my intuitive skills in the moment. I turn within to my raw emotion, perception, memory and energy to express on the canvas with a unique language of colour and texture. My work is spontaneous, hand-painted or hand -drawn. Currently, I choose not to use AI or digital processes in the making of my paintings because I love the feel of the paint on my hands and the visual interest, depth of the textures; the tactile nature of the artwork. In my view, the human-made aspect has an authenticity about it that I value and I am sure will become more sort after as time goes on.

My aim is to make a difference to people by bringing colour, beautiful energy and positive vibes into their homes, apartments, hotels and workplaces, and ultimately their lives. I want my art to be part of their lifestyle, to be uplifting and empowering.

In my opinion, abstract art is a genre of unlimited creativity where colours, forms, and textures come together to evoke unique emotions and experiences. It's not just about what you see within the artwork; it's about how it speaks to you on personal level, how it inspires you, what you feel or perceive when you view the art.

Whether you are an art collector seeking new treasures for investment or simply for enjoyment, an interior designer infusing spaces with unique personalities, or a home renovator searching for that perfect accent, abstract art has so much to offer.

There's often a story behind my art or not. Either way, it can be a great conversation starter and bring people together. It's a journey of exploration, inspiration and ideally, these artistic expressions serve as a sanctuary for the soul, offering moments of contemplation and moments of delight in our busy lives.

The Essence of Abstract Art

As I see it, abstract art is more than just aesthetics; it’s a form of expression that can resonate with viewers on a deep, meaningful emotional level. By moving away from realistic depictions, abstract artworks invite personal interpretation and engagement, making them a dynamic addition to any home. My paintings are often bold in colour, with a splash of neon or gold leaf, silver leaf and textured. I aim to create art that is both captivating and thought-provoking.

My Background in Style and Design

Although I am not an Interior designer, colour, style, and design edge is important to me. This comes from several years working in the creative and fashion industry as a professional makeup artist and later as a high fashion model. I worked with numerous international creative teams, modelling for big brands and labels such as Chanel, Elle, Versace, Chloe and more. I believe I worked with some of the best creatives in their trade.

During that time, while working with creative and art directors, I learned much about how to use colour, artistic design and styling. By the way, as far as style goes, I firmly adhere to the concept of, less is more. In the home, I love a modern eclectic, and to some degree, a minimalist look with feature accents. And I apply that learning to my own styling.

Creating a Focal Point With Abstract Art

One of the most powerful ways to use abstract art in your home or commercial space, is by creating a focal point. An example of a striking piece which will draw the eye and provide a centrepiece around which other design elements can be placed.

Whether it's a large canvas in the living room, entranceway or a collection of smaller abstracts in a hallway, study or bedroom, abstract art can grab attention and set the tone for the space.

Enhancing Mood and Atmosphere

Colours, marks, form and textures are the essence of my contemporary abstract expressionism paintings and it significantly impacts the mood of a room. I love to paint vibrant art, with dynamic compositions, neon, bold hues and loads of texture. These artworks energize any space, making it feel more alive and inviting. Alternatively, I have other pieces, expressive abstract art with warm neutrals like beige and peach or pink, which create a sense of calm and tranquility, ideal for bedrooms, studies or relaxation areas. Even smaller paintings can bring a small space alive.

Personal Expression and Identity

Abstract art allows homeowners with a love for an edgy style, to express their personal tastes and individuality. Should you chose my unique artwork, it will not only personalize your space, it will reflect your aesthetic style, and bridge the connection between my inner world, and your own. Most of my pieces tell a story that continues to unfold, creating a dynamic interplay between my expressions and your personal interpretation. This ongoing dialogue enriches your personal space with depth, emotion, and a unique story that may evolve over time.

Versatility in Design

Abstract art being non-representational in nature, makes it incredibly versatile. It holds a unique place in the interior design industry. Contemporary abstract art has been shown by art researchers to be the most popular genre for art collectors, particularly in recent years. It complements a wide range of interior design styles, from the edgy aesthetics of futuristic design, modern and minimalist to eclectic and traditional. My creations can be integrated into various settings and styling, enhancing the overall aesthetic experience without clashing with existing decor.

Investing in Original Art

Beyond the obvious aesthetic appeal, investing in original abstract art is a wise financial decision. Original artworks often appreciate in value over time, making them both a unique and smart addition to homes or commercial spaces. And supporting artists, especially emerging artists by purchasing their artworks, means you are contributing to the vibrant art culture. Something everyone can enjoy.

Changes in Art Investment

With the ups and downs in economic climate, budget constraints impact art buyers' decisions as to whether to buy originals or art prints. According to a recent art market reporting, there has been a surge in print sales for 2023 as young art collectors invest in prints for personal enjoyment and for home decoration with less focus on investment for resale.

My fine art prints are high-quality, printed and produced in Australia from sustainable materials and offer an affordable alternative to original art, with or without framing. They are available printed with archival inks, on fine art paper or on high-quality canvas.

Alternatively, if you are looking for a quality canvas print and you are not concerned about archival features, then my canvas prints would be an affordable option, with or without a frame.
